HoneyStick

HoneyStick was founded in 2013 and has many years of developing vaporizers under its belt. So when they released a dry herb vaporizer I was curious about the quality. Dan from HoneyStick was kind enough to send me the HRB so that I can review it.

What’s in the box?

Opening up the box reveals the basics needed to get started and customize the experience. Everything comes wrapped up tucked into the box nicely.

Included in the box is a short charging cable, a dab tool, a cleaning brush, a glass mouthpiece, and the HRB itself. The glass mouthpiece serves as a way to change up your experience if you wish.

How do you use it?

The HRB is a very simple device to use. Out of the box you need to charge it to full. It doesn’t take long and it is recommended because the battery only comes about half full and will operate better after a first charge. After charging it I recommend sterilizing the device by powering it on to high and letting it run for at least 5 minutes. This will help to get rid of any residual oils from the manufacturing process. There are 3 heat settings on the HRB. There is green for low, blue for medium, and white for high.

You want to make sure the bud that you load into the HRB is medium ground and not too fine. Since the chamber on the HRB is narrow and deep it helps to make sure that you tamp the bud into the bottom and keep adding more and tamping it until it’s full. You power it on and off with 5 clicks. The HRB works best and will provide the best experience if it’s left to heat an extra 10 seconds once the light changes. Then you vape it to your tastes. You can vape until it’s a very dark brown without it burning because of the even heating.

After you dump out the bud you should give it a quick brush to keep it clean. With regular upkeep you won’t need to do a deep clean very often.

How well does it work?

The HRB is very small and light and it was surprisingly comfortable in the hand. It has a good heating time and the heat is very even with no hot spots. The magnetic mouthpiece makes cleaning and reloading it simple and quick. You can load a decent amount of bud into the chamber due to how deep it is as well. It is a bit more difficult to load and empty than most dry herb vaporizers because of how narrow the chamber is, but once used to it, it’s as fast as any other vape. It does have to be held when it’s emptied or loaded due to the rounded bottom though.

The battery life in the HRB is good enough to last a day of vaping or a few bowls. The good airflow on the HRB allows the device to cool quickly and allows large draws on it if you want large clouds.

Pros and Cons:

   Pros:

  • Small and lightweight.
  • Magnetic mouthpiece.
  • Efficient and even heating.
  • Good airflow
  • Fast charging

   Cons:

  • Rounded bottom.
  • Plastic body.
  • Gets hot with extended use.

Conclusion

The HRB is a reliable device that works well. The quick and even heating leads to a much more streamlined experience and the small and light body makes it easy to hide in a pocket or bag. The included glass mouthpiece gives you options depending on your preference as well. The plastic body does get pretty hot with extended use but only near the mouthpiece where the air intake vents are so you can still handle it. The fast charging allows you to get a quick charge in when you have the chance so you don’t have to dedicate time to charge it.

Overall I will give the HoneyStick HRB a passing grade and recommend it to anyone looking for a lightweight and tiny device.
