AirVape OM

What is AirVape?

It arrived with a pretty standard box.

AirVape is mainly known for their loose leaf vaporizer. Which is a sleek, slim, and reliable device. So when I saw that they were releasing a concentrate pen it certainly caught my eye. They were kind enough to send me a review device so here are my honest thoughts about it.

It arrived with a pretty standard box. Nothing fancy but does the job. Inside the box is the pen with various mouthpieces. This is because AirVape markets this pen as being compatible with all of those prefilled oil cartridges you can buy at dispensaries (Such as this). The different sized mouthpieces ensures you can use them all.

The tapered mouthpiece and the wood grain design work really well for it

I think this device looks good. The tapered mouthpiece and the wood grain design work really well for it, it’s also really small, so it’s extremely portable. Because of this they included a keychain for it. But I don’t like putting keychains on my keys, so like any keychain, it comes off.

Inside the box is your standard stuff. A charger and a dab tool, with some reading material on the side. The dab tool is better than the cheap ones that come with most wax pen kits. This one is the regular dab tool you get at any dispensary. It’s certainly a nice addition, but honestly, a full sized dab tool is a bit too big for this device. The reading material isn’t very detailed, but tells you all you need to know. There is writing on the other side but it’s just your typical legal and warranty information with nothing specific to the device.

The connector on here is solid, with a lot of spring so that it will fit anything you try it with. I don’t have any pre-filled cartridges to test it with but I did connect a few things to it and they connect perfectly.

But this device is for more than only pre-filled cartridges. It also comes with a small fillable wax cartridge that lets you load it with any material you wish because it uses a dual quartz coil system. It also uses a magnetic connection to easily come apart for loading. The coils in this thing are tight. There is almost no extra room in there and with how the coils were bunched together, I was worried about uneven heating.

Testing the Device

So it was time to test it out. I loaded up a small chunk of shatter and pressed the button for maybe 0.1 seconds to melt it into place (second photo with a spotlight).

There are 3 heating settings on the AirVape. Red for hot, blue for medium, and white for cool. I used the blue setting for the middle ground. I took a pretty standard hit of 5-7 seconds with the button pressed and another 3-5 seconds of a cooldown hit. The AirVape hits surprisingly smooth. The airflow is a bit tight, but good for solid hits. It melted pretty evenly and stayed on the coils for successive hits. With the size of this chamber there’s not a lot of room for pooling below the coils. The coils seem to operate perfectly fine despite being so tight together. This is actually pretty impressive to me as I liked it and I’m not a big fan of dual quarts coils usually.

It melted pretty evenly

Overall, I give the AirVape OM a passing grade. It is an attractive device that you can use with your pre-filled cartridges. The dual quartz cartridge it comes with is also quite good for what it is. It’s solves a lot of the issues most dual quartz coils have and does a few things of it’s own to make it unique. If you frequently use pre-filled cartridges, you would likely get a lot of use out of this.

Pros:

  • Attractive design
  • Compatibility with prefilled cartridges.
  • Smooth hits
  • Portability
  • Adjustable battery

Cons:

  • Small chamber so not much concentrate can be loaded.
  • No flat bottom so it has to be held when loading.
